Is muscle mass alone a major factor in effective aging?

The authors of Muscle Mass Index As a Predictor of Longevity in Older Adults make the case that folks could/should focus more on building and maintaining muscle vs. say, losing body fat.

I’m not enough of a statistician to be able to comment on if that really holds water, but it kinda makes sense. At a minimum, it could shift the focus in a way that lends itself to better adherence.

Something to keep in mind, and why I think a focus on muscle mass is a one-stop-shop for effective aging.
